  • A day in the life of a Lingerie Addict

Ever wondered what a day in the life of your average lingerie addict is like? Well some of you have. Be prepared for your illusions to be shattered, life in lingerie is really not all that glamorous darling….

7am My alarm sounds waking me from my deep stupor. I reach for my phone looking to turn off the dream killer and search through internet friends allowed version of reality.

Lingerie, lingerie, as far as the eye can see. That’s till I realise I’ve wasted an hour of my life and I’ve now got 20 minutes to shower and get dressed before I have to leave for work or risk being late.

8am I’m multi tasking in the shower…Not in that way!!!!! What lingerie is clean and what clothes are clean and which ones will work together to carry out the tasks of today???? Am I doing manual labour or seeing the kids later? Not today so I can wear my stockings safely. What size are my boobs today? It’s a week before my period so they are sitting around a 30F that rules out most of my sets. Looks like I’m going to be wearing my WKD suspender with my avocado bra and hopeless lingerie thong. Talk about mixing and matching.

8.10 I’m setting up my phone to take a photo while getting dressed and brushing my teeth. The ironing board is used as a camera stand and my floor lamp lights the shot badly. I’ve once again run out of time to put on any makeup so headless shot it is.

8.15 I find clothes I deem good enough and run out the door while scrolling through the quick photos deciding which one gets to see the light of day.

8.25 I’m waiting in line for coffee and the man behind me is getting more than he bargained for as I’m editing my photos to make use of the time.

8.30 I’m on the train trying to post a photo and think of a caption on only one sip of coffee. The photo sucks so does the caption. I post it anyway.

8.45 I get off the train after 10 minutes of no signal to find I have 45 likes. You guys suck. I’m a tool so I post on my instagram stories to go “check out my latest amaze balls post”.

9am I see a few pity comments roll in. Love you too guys xxx

9.30am Colleagues come by and comment on perky boobs/nice stockings/lingerie layering so on and so on. I say thanks check out my instagram and bog to learn how/who/where!

10.30am Management comes by and comments on how my outfit is not work appropriate. Something along the lines of ‘underwear is not meant to be on show’ ‘I can se your bra’ ‘ not the company’s atheistic’. Ok I’ll remember tomorrow…..

11.30am I run to the bathroom to check my phone. Not much action.

12.45pm Lunch time! I eat Mexican/Thai/sandwich very quickly and window shop at all the possible places I can find lingerie. I avoid Bras N things. Cotton on body makes me depressed and I feel old. Myer has nothing I want. David jones has nothing in my size. And that’s all the places you can shop for lingerie in my area!!!!! I comment to myself how depressing the lingerie shops around here are.

1.15pm I tell my colleagues once again how hard it is to find good lingerie and vow to start my own shop one day. Everyone cheers in excitement.

2pm I feel my stockings twisting so I try and sort them out in he toilet cubicle. Mission not super successful.

5pm I’m hunching something chronic and my bra is starting to dig in. I try and stand up straight but that requires the will to live.

6pm It’s quite so I do a sneaky instagram scroll while no one is looking. If I’m lucky I reply to a few comments and messages. If I’m unlucky I get to block a few dickheads the seeped through the cracks when I wasn’t looking.

7.30pm I get home from work and sit down to dinner. The idea of keeping my lingerie on and treating my husband to a strip tease leaves my mind while I change into my pjs. Pj’s aren’t appalling, silk slip dress tonight. I throw the undesirables onto the ever present pile in the bathroom. I’ll do it tomorrow….I lay in bed telling myself to get my arse moving to write the blog post that’s a month over due. I don’t. I scroll instagram for an hour.

9pm I fall asleep thinking of all the time I’ve wasted. I think of what I’m going to post tomorrow. I ask myself why I do this. I look forward to seeing what everyone else is wearing in the morning. #lingerieaddict #lingerielife #satire

  • I feel like a fraud…

    I feel like a fraud…

Every time I write ‘fuller bust’ I cringe. Not because there is anything wrong with being fuller bust or small bust or no bust for that matter. It’s just I don’t see myself that way. Maybe it’s the years of being put into the wrong size bras (34d) I always seem to see myself as within the core size ranges. And I’m not really.  I’m starting to realise slowly that I definitely need a 30 band sometimes even a 28 and that there is nothing wrong with that. But I still feel like I’m lying to myself, that I’m forcing myself into bras that don’t fit me when really they are the best sizes for me.

I recently ordered from a Polish fuller bust brand. When it arrived I took one look at it and my heart sank. I was thinking that after I took my measurements 100 times I’d got it wrong. This beautiful bra looked way too big to ever fit me. So I put off trying it on for a few days until I had worked out if I could exchange it. I’d worked myself into a state all over the size of a bra, I had thought that I had ordered a cup size too big and that I was kidding myself that I would ever fit into it. Then I tried it on. And it’s pretty much perfect….

Does anyone else suffer from this weird psychological battle of bra sizes? I know that a bra size doesn’t define me but I think it’s more the labels that are associated with them. I look at other people in the full bust market and I’m just like “yep I don’t belong”. Even people I know always assume I am a very different size than what I am and for some reason it offends me.

Labels in general suck. It may be helpful in a search engine and for marketing but not much else.

What are your thoughts on belonging to a certain ‘group’ in a lingerie sense? Do you like retro lingerie but don’t fit the pin up mould? Like wearing bralettes and you’re a 34H? Or like me do you suffer from stupid thoughts about size when really IT DOESN’T MATTER!!!!???? Leave a comment below.

  • Things I wish I knew before buying lingerie online.

Things I wish I knew before buying lingerie online.

I’m sure I’m not the only person to have purchased something online only to realise it’s not what you were expecting. Buying lingerie online is both easy and hard. At 3am after a few glasses of wine it can be a little too easy. Bye bye money. So here is a few pointers I wish I had back in the day to avoid any serious regret.

    FIRST TIME

If it’s you’re first time buying from a brand my advice is to buy sale. Personally I can’t make the commitment of a full price purchase of a brand I have never tried before. What’s the fit like? What do the fabrics look like in person? It’s an expensive mistake to make if the fit doesn’t work for you and then it’s not returnable. A lot of people/sales assistants look down on you for buying sale but it is the best way to get a feel for a brand with a smaller financial risk for yourself.

    STUDY THE SIZE CHART

Size charts are your friends. Go through every aspect of them. Get that measuring tape out! Each size chart is different so while you may be one size in brand A, with the same measurements you might be a size bigger in brand B.

    READ REVIEWS

Read as many reviews as you can about the brand or product you are thinking of purchasing. The best information usually comes from other lingerie addicts. Also seeing how the same product fits on a range of body types is immensely helpful. If you are still not sure, email the customer service for the brand and ask for more information and advice.

    CHECK THE RETURNS POLICY

It may seem obvious, but in the heat of the moment when you’re excited about purchasing something new and amazing this may be the last thing on your mind. Not all brands/stores accept returns. Some don’t accept knickers as returns for hygiene reasons. Custom made lingerie and accessories are 99% of the time non-refundable. If they do accept returns, there is usually a very short time period to send it back. Also the return postage may be at your personal cost.

    SHOP AROUND

If you have time, shop around online. Some brands are stocked on multiple websites and all have different pros and cons. What I look for is free shipping. If there is free shipping over $200 and my order total is $150 I’m more than happy to buy something extra rather than pay $15 for shipping. Also if shopping on international websites it’s always best to shop in the local currency as there is sometimes huge differences in their currency conversion rates. Also signing up to mailing lists usually gets you a ‘welcome discount’ of 10% and is worth utilising.

    TAXES AND IMPORTS

Be aware of custom charges for your country. For Australia if you have goods over the value of $1000 in one order you will be charged an import tax and it isn’t cheap. This tax has to be paid to release your items and if you decide to return your purchase you don’t get your tax back! Also if shopping on European websites, check who charges VAT and who doesn’t when shipping to Australia. Technically we don’t have to pay it so it’s kind of a 20% discount when available.

    DELIVERY OPTIONS

I always go for track and trace options for post as there is nothing worse than your order going missing. Sure its $10 more expensive but lingerie is precious cargo and I like to know where in the world my babies are.

    HAVE A WISHLIST

Write down things that you actually want to buy and save towards it. It’s easy to get distracted by sales and promotions but if you only want it because it’s on sale you probably aren’t shopping wisely.  That may sound like a bit of contradiction to my first suggestion but this applies to long-term investment pieces. Better to buy one thing you really want like silk stockings over a sale set from Heidi Klum that almost fits…

    SECURE PAYMENT

There are a lot of articles out there about safe shopping online. The most important part of them is make sure you shop with a reputable retailer or if buying off eBay/etsy/depop make sure they have reviews of over 95%. Best way to pay is by PayPal. Its secure, fast and easy to use.

Nothing really compares to shopping in an actual store but for many people this isn’t a reality. Stock limitations, sizes, location and budget all affect your options if you want to try before you buy. Online shopping is far easier, accessible and relatively stress free. And better yet you can do it all from the comfort of your home drinking tea in your pj’s.

    Happy shopping!

  • Love Claudette Sophia review

    Love Claudette Sophia review

I’m going to start off this review by saying this isn’t really my correct size. This was brought at a sample sale and I was kind of in the mind-set of ‘close enough I’ll take two!’. Purchased at a fraction of the retail price how could I say no?

Processed with VSCO with f2 preset

So this is the Sophia set from Claudette in size 32dd and small. It is the less famous little sister to their Dessous bra.  I have 4 of the Dessous bras but the Sophia is definitely a new fave. It’s a moulded cup in the balconette style and it has fully adjustable straps. Like all the Claudette styles, it comes in a multitude of colours. This particular one I’m wearing is called sea-foam. It has 3 columns and 3 rows of hooks and eyes so even though the back is a bit big on me I feel secure. If I was buying this bra again i would probably go for 30F as the 32dd is too big in the back and i have a fair amount of spillage out of the cups. There really isn’t a bad thing to say about the actual bra. The gore tacks well, nothing digs in, the straps are sturdy and the quality is good for the price range.

Processed with VSCO with g3 preset

The Sophia Suspender briefs I purchased purely because I like to have my underwear match. I really wasn’t expecting great things. So i was wrong and they are amazing! the material used for The Sophia range is great for everyday as its smooth and thin so perfect for actually wearing under clothes! Who would have thought? The suspender briefs actually do what they say they do and managed to hold up my stockings all day. They didn’t pull my pants off and the sliders stayed in place and didn’t move on their own accord. I really wasn’t expecting them to stay in place. I was so doubtful i had a spare suspender in my bag just in case. The only thing i don’t like is the metal finishes. I prefer mine gold tones and on show. Not coated metal hidden beneath ribbons even though it gives the set a streamlined appearance.. But that just a personal preference.

Overall I am very happy with the Sophia range and I plan on buying it in some other colours in my correct size. This set is currently on sale on the Love Claudette website the briefs for USD $24.99 and the Bra for $29.99

  • Freolic review

    Freolic review

Back at the start of the year a certain look book was gaining a lot of attention from the lingerie community. I was one of many drooling over the exquisite lingerie from Freolic. Now to say that I was disappointed that I couldn’t purchase it straight away would be a gross understatement. But I guess it was a blessing is disguise as a couple of months ago I won the competition Freolic was running on Facebook. The prize was the luxurious Bianca bra and briefs. So me being me, I had to complete the set. I ordered the Bianca waspie using the 10% off code you get for signing up to their newsletter.

    image

The size I ordered in the bra was 32dd and a small for the briefs and waspie. It’s always tricky ordering online and it was even harder ordering from a new brand as you have no sphere of reference for sizing or fit issues. So when my pretty white box arrived it was met with excitement and a little bit of fear. You know that fear? The fear of shit its expensive and so pretty please fit or I will cry😭💔

    image
Zigzag lace and mesh on the Bianca waspie

I’m happy to report the briefs and waspie are a perfect fit and the bra almost so. I find the band has come up very big for me and I think it has to do with the fabric as well as a pattern issue. The fabric used is a very stretchy zig zag lace and mesh. It is buttery soft against the skin but it has a Lot more stretch than the heavier laces used in their iconic grace set. When the band isn’t tight enough a find the cups don’t sit flush against my breast tissue. Another aspect of this bra that some people may have an issue with is the adjustability of the straps. They don’t adjust a great length, for me this isn’t a problem but something to consider if you usually need to shorten your bra to the shortest length.

    image
The amount of adjustability of the bra straps.

Something unique to Freolic is the microbead inserts for their bras. As someone whose cup size can fluctuate 2 cup sizes in a month, this detail is appreciated so I can actually wear it even on my smallest day! They really are the best removable padding I’ve come across. Virtually weightless and they mould easily to your shape while adding that little extra volume in a natural way. These little details are what sets them apart as a luxury brand.

    image

My first thoughts on the waspie were ‘that’s not going to hold my stockings up’. with only 4 straps and the lightest material I was certain this would end up being a show only piece. I’ve now worn it for 2 full work days with RHT nylon stockings and I haven’t had to adjust it once! The cut on this waspie is sublime for me, the boning doesn’t dig in and small fits my 26 inch waist perfectly. The icing on the cake for the Bianca waspie is the rose gold hardware of the suspender clip that is free from annoying ribbons!!!!

    image

The last aspect of this set is the brief. I’m not usually A brief girl, especially the low rise style. I prefer high waisted or thongs because I find most briefs cut into my gym adverse bum and hips. So imagine my surprise when they don’t do that! They are soooo comfortable and no quad but. This whole set is so comfortable I forget I’m wearing it. The sheerness of the fabric used in the Bianca set is great for my lifestyle and Australian summer.

This really is a brand I would recommend to someone whose is looking to purchase a quality product from a luxury brand. From good communication from customer service, speed of delivery, packaging and the lingerie itself it really is the whole luxury experience. Surprising from such a new brand I’m excited to see what they do next!

The Bianca range retails from £65 for the thong up to £96 for the bra.image

  • Where it all started.

    Where it all started.

When people ask me ‘why lingerie?’ I usually roll my eyes at them knowing that they think I’m some wild sex demon. Once that’s out of the way the rest of the who? What? When? Follows.

I don’t know exactly when so I’m going with I was 8 years old when I was first introduced to the concept of lingerie rather than underwear. My auntie was visiting my family and for as long as I can remember we had called her Gina g-string   (Kids are cruel I know!). I asked her why we called her that and being the hilarious auntie that she is, she flashed me. Even 8-year-old me knew that a high cut lace g-string is not your average underwear.

Up until 3 years ago, I had only had a few brief encounters with lingerie. All shopping experiences to acquire said lingerie were painful. The more bad experiences I had, the more unsure I became and retreated back to the safety of my beige undies and sports bras. These bad experiences were from the usual culprits such as Victoria’s Secret and Ann summers. I understand some people love these brands but after being sold bras that don’t fit, harassed in store and being generally treated poorly I decided my money can go elsewhere. I’ve also held onto those pieces that I brought way back when as a reminder to myself of how hard it was/is to buy lingerie.

    image

I have now slowly built up a collection of lingerie that I love and plan on adding more. I’m hoping to help stop the stigma associated with lingerie so more people feel the comfort and confidence that it has brought to my life.

Cheers for reading my first post, reviews and other more exciting bits and bobs up soon 😘
